Logo Design: Marin Men's Cursillo

Project type

Logo Design

Date

June 2025

Location

Marin County, CA

Objective:
Create a logo for the Marin County Men's Cursillo to be used for badges and promotional material.

Design Concept:
The client wanted a logo for this event that was inspired by Greek/Byzantine artwork of Jesus showing his grace. They also wanted to include the Alpha and Omega Greek symbols which are prominent in this style of artwork. The client provided samples from various works that served as inspiration.

Rather than simply recreating an image of Jesus, I decided to create shapes that would evoke the idea in a modernized way. After several designs and modifications, we chose a shape that simulated Jesus' outstretched arms, with a halo and glow about him. For the Alpha and Omega, I created a repeating parting that connected both symbols and served as a border for the imagery.

Color Theory:
I chose warm oranges and yellows with a gradient to emphasize the glow emanating from the central figure. The outer border of blue serves as a contrast to the orange while staying within the same tonal pattern.

Overview:
This was a simple yet inspiring project for me. It allowed me to work with deconstruction design. More importantly, the client was very pleased with the outcome.
